Losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war with Russia

In his speech on the Feygin Live channel, Oleksiy Arestovich said that the Ukrainian army lost every 70 fighters.

A simple calculation shows that if at the beginning of the war the Armed Forces of Ukraine numbered 206,000 people, then by June of this year for 3 months of the war, the Armed Forces of Ukraine irretrievably lost 2900 fighters.

Taking into account the fact that each side of the military conflict underestimates its own losses, even multiplying this number of losses by 2, we will get about 6,000 people.

However, referring to the same Arestovich, who voices the number of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 700,000 people at the moment, we will get the number of killed servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 10,000 people, which is most likely more true.

At the same time, the Ukrainian side says that the Russian army lost more than 30,000 people during the conflict.

NATO estimates are more modest, according to the WSJ , citing a source in NATO at the end of March this year, the possible irretrievable losses of the Russian army are probably from 7 to 15,000 people and total losses, including wounded up to 40,000 people.

Even with a minimal empirical calculation in favor of Russia, the Russian side lost 2 times more fighters than the Ukrainian side.
