At the funeral of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the priest of the OCU delivered a speech in which he criticized the Moscow Patriarchate. This did not please the priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, who attacked his opponent and hit him several times with a crucifix.

As a result, the OCU priest was injured, the police are investigating the incident.

The split between the Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox Churches emerged in 2018, when the OCU received autocephaly from the Diocese of Constantinople.
Shortly after the start of the war, the UOC (OCU) announced a break with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. A confrontation began between the OCU and the ROC in Ukraine, during which various incidents occurred.
