Winter onset of censorship

On Christmas Eve, Roskomnadzor blocked the human rights project OVD-Info by the decision of the Lukhovitsky District Court in the Moscow region, and independent media are forced to delete information about corruption.

Here is what OVD-Info writes:

We do not know the reasons for the blocking. We did not receive any official notifications about the inspection of the prosecutor’s office or demands to remove any illegal content, as well as we did not receive information about the court session or about the blocking of the site.

OVD-Info is an independent human rights media project dedicated to political persecution in Russia.

Roskomnadzor also ordered the TV channel “Rain”, the publications Znak.com and “Very” to remove materials about the investigations of “Open Media” and “MBH Media” belonging to Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

The materials contained investigations into the sale of the leading “Russia 1” Nailya Asker-zade plot on Rublevka worth 2.8 billion rubles, about the real estate of the family of Alina Kabaeva and other materials about corruption in Russia.

Roskomnadzor sent out instructions with the wording on the dissemination of information by an organization declared “undesirable” in Russia.
