Social networks discuss the death of a military pilot born in 1959 who died in the performance of a combat mission.

Major General Kanamat Botashev, a native of Karachay-Cherkessia, commanded an aviation regiment before retiring. The most surprising thing is that the downed pilot aged 63 years was covered by an even older pilot, a 65-year-old citizen of Belarus, whose name is not called.

The fact of Botashev’s death is confirmed in social networks.

Botashev, flying a Su-25 attack aircraft, was shot down while leaving the attack maneuver from the Stinger MANPADS over the territory of Ukraine.

Against the background of the fact that the State Duma of the Russian Federation canceled the age limit for service under a contract, this suggests that in Russia there is an acute shortage of military career officers who have the skills and knowledge to conduct successful combat operations.
