Russian aggression against Ukraine

Russia is planning a campaign of arrests and assassinations in Ukraine after the invasion. The list includes prominent political opponents, anti-corruption activists, as well as Belarusian and Russian oppositionists forced to emigrate to Ukraine.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, provided information confirmed by 4 other people linked to U.S. intelligence:

As we have seen in the past, we expect Russia to try to impose cooperation through intimidation and repression.

In the past, Russian operations have included targeted killings, abductions, detentions and torture.

Most likely, these actions will be directed against those who oppose Russia, including Russian and Belarusian dissidents in exile in Ukraine, journalists, anti-corruption activists, vulnerable LGBT groups, religious, ethnic minorities.

The Biden administration has also been struck by how accurate the lists are, which appear to target anyone who might challenge the Russian agenda.

At the same time, press secretary Dmitry Peskov called this information a fake.
