A group of Russian troops was surrounded in the Kherson region
About 1,000 Russian servicemen were surrounded near the village of Vysokopole, Kherson region.
The conflict arose between the central government of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan within Uzbekistan.
Karakalpakstan declared its sovereignty in 1990 and voluntarily became part of Uzbekistan. The Authorities of Uzbekistan decided to amend the Constitution of the country which deprive Karakalpakstan of sovereignty.
As a result, several thousand Karakalpakstan residents came out to protest. There are no reports of a clash with police yet.
