Legion ‘Freedom of Russia’ – who are they?

In Ukraine, a unit consisting of Russian servicemen who switched to the side of Ukraine was created.

The Legion ‘Freedom of Russia’ fights on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and recruits Russian servicemen into its ranks. According to one of the officers of the Legion of Freedom of Russia, his unit switched to the side of Ukraine in February 2022, immediately after the invasion of Ukraine.

The main slogan of the legionnaires is Russia without Putin.

Insiders report that the concept of the “Legion of Freedom of Russia” is as follows: we are not fighting for Ukraine, we are fighting for Russia, but Russia without Putin, without totalitarian and imperial frenzy, for a new democratic Russia.

According to the Ukrainian side, the Legion of Freedom of Russia will be sent together with Belarusian units to the places of hostilities.

Many foreigners are fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 20,000 people came to Ukraine to fight Russia. Every day about 100 people from different countries come to Ukraine to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command of Ukraine organized a special Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is already participating in hostilities in the Kiev area.
