Кризис кинопроката в России

Probably by the end of this year, more than half of Russian cinema halls will be closed. Because of the sanctions, film distributors have nothing to show the viewer.

Now the repertoire of Russian cinemas is extremely poor. Film distribution is forced to show either old Russian films or films of class “B” and “C” – low-budget films that are not in demand.

The owners of cinemas appealed for help to the Ministry of Finance, they asked for a loan in the amount of 6.5 billion rubles, but were refused.

As a result, cinemas suffer huge losses, the average attendance of the cinema hall is 6 people per session, the rental of films does not pay off.

First Vice-President of Crocus Group Emin Agalarov said that the company’s shopping centers lost about 30% of anchor tenants, whose share can reach 40% of the area:

To continue the work of these halls, Russia must overtake Hollywood in a few months, which has existed for 100 years, and begin to produce such films that the whole country wants to go to… Most likely, we will not be able to cope with this task. And instead of cinema halls, there will be blank boxes. We will play tennis there.

Crocus City Mall is the largest shopping complex in Moscow. The total area of VEGAS Crocus City is 285,000m2, trade – 112,500m2.
