At least in the next month, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to carry out a powerful offensive, despite the fact that it will receive a certain number of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from Western partners

French President Emmanuel Macron said in a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine would be provided with AMX-10 RC light wheeled tanks.

He also said that support for Ukraine will continue until peace comes to Europe.

The UK is considering the transfer of heavy Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine. Negotiations on the supply of these tanks have been underway for several weeks.

Sweden will supply Archer self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said in an interview with Expressen: “Ukraine must get more offensive weapons to fight back against Russian occupation, and Sweden must also do its part.”

The Czech Republic, among other things, is transferring Soviet-style T-72 tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the United States will provide Ukraine with Vampire air defense systems to combat drones and low-flying targets and additional assistance in the amount of $40 million.

In a recent interview with The Economist, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said:

I know that I can defeat this enemy. But I need resources. I need 300 tanks, 600-700 infantry fighting vehicles, 500 howitzers. Then, I think, it is quite realistic to reach the borders on February 23rd. But I can’t do it with two brigades. I get what I get but less than what I need. It is not yet the time to address Ukrainian soldiers the way Mannerheim addressed Finnish soldiers. We can and must capture much more territory.

Probably his call was heard, but the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not simple. It is likely that Ukraine will lose Soledar in the near future, which entails possible Russian attacks on Bakhmut and endangers Kramatorsk.

Partial mobilization carried out in Russia is bearing fruit. In some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bakhmut and Soledar direction, losses amount to 70% of the personnel.

The Russians were ahead of the Ukrainians in terms of the timing of the offensive, and the task of Ukraine is to hold its positions. The West was late with the provision of military assistance and the real successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will probably have to wait until the end of February.
However, this only postpones the victory of Ukraine in this war.
